Dozing off to the sound of overproduced feel-good songs beside your little backyard pond.
Constantly distracted because you couldn’t be bothered.
Disrupting your state of ignorance would not do much in the end.
At least you are not hurting (anyone) so why doubting yourself.
“You are one of the good ones.”
In need of harmony, you swallow every drop of scum without retaliation,
condoning and becoming complicit in violence.
Every so often you start to wonder…
But still, your submissive compliance is not compensated by backhanded wit and feelings of superiority.
You have chosen your side.

“Other-directed I ended up in this place.
Please tell me where I can find solace in sorrow.
My life has been taken away from me so let me ponder about my purpose.”
-
“You imposed this situation onto yourself.
You brought yourself here. Asking for what nobody deserves.
Innocence is the last thing I’d think of.”
-
“Where is the justice in that?
Not judging my essence but solely the last of my actions.
I needed a flight.”
-
“Comprehension’s not your strongest subject, I suppose.
Whether or not you needed that escape, if you even can call it that, is barely of value.”
-
“There is a promise I must keep. I cannot tell you what it is.
But I shall reward you.”
-
“I doubt there is anything you could offer that I do not already possess.”
-
“I’ll grant you my soul, my essence
after I completed my journey.”
-
“The path you are walking defies nature’s way.
They’ll catch up on you.”

Scared of opening my door, uncertain misgivings entering the world of self-disappointment
exchanged for opposed limbs.
Tempted to close it to start all over again. But what is it good for?
Your distant memory buzzing back, gnawing my head.
As we talk, deep down there is a resurgence of glimpses of timid bravery.
It’s calling for action. It’s calling for eruption.
Habits pulling me back. They want to chain me up, take me as a hostage.
Not anymore.
Unhinging and smashing the door so it won’t patronize me anymore.
Where do I go from here? Where do I go from here?
